The Regina Wascana Kiwanis Club Football Scholarships

The Regina Kiwanis offers annually four scholarships in honor of four members of the club. The scholarships are named for: George Bothwell, Norman Church, Ben Gofine and Jack Huber and the value of each scholarship is $750.00. The scholarships are tenable during the academic year they are awarded and apply to any accredited post- secondary educational institution providing the program is a minimum of two years duration. Scholarships are an entry scholarship for one year only.

 

Eligible applicants include any grade twelve graduates who participated in the football program of the high schools involved in the Regina Intercollegiate Football League including players, trainers, managers, cheerleaders, etc.

 

The applicant, together with a parent or guardian, may be requested to attend an interview with the Education Awards Committee.

 

You are not eligible for the Regina Wascana Kiwanis Club Football Scholarships if:

  • You are a relative or dependent of Wascana Kiwanis Club member.
  • You have been awarded or will be awarded other scholarships having a total cumulative value exceeding $4,500.00.

While the applicant’s Grade XII High School Transcript will be taken into consideration, scholastic achievement will not necessarily be the determining factor in the awarding of the scholarships. The Educational Awards Committee, in keeping with Kiwanis principles, will take into consideration such additional factors as leadership, character, community activities, etc., as well as the financial need of the applicant. The decision of the committee will be final.

Application forms properly completed, together with a copy of a grade XII Department of Education High School Transcript and two letters of reference from the writers thereof must be emailed by the athletic director of the applying school to the RHSAA commissioner.

The funds will be forwarded to the successful applicant upon receipt of proof of registration in an approved post-secondary educational institution.
