The Regina Wascana Kiwanis Club and Mr. Walter Yeo Basketball Scholarships

The scholarships, one for senior boys and one for senior girls, are in honor of Mr. Yeo’s parents George and Margaret Yeo, and the value of each scholarship is $500.00.
The scholarships are tenable during the academic year they are awarded and apply to any accredited post-secondary educational institution providing the program is a minimum of two years duration. Scholarships are an entry scholarship for one year only.

Eligible applicants include any grade twelve graduates who participated in the basketball program of the high schools involved in Regina Intercollegiate Basketball League.

The applicant, together with a parent or guardian, may be requested to attend an interview with the Education Awards Committee.

You are not eligible for the Regina Wascana Kiwanis Club Basketball Scholarships if:

  • You are a relative or dependent of a Regina Wascana Kiwanis Club member.
  • You have been awarded or will be awarded other scholarships having a total cumulative value exceeding $4,500.00.

While the applicant’s Grade XII High School Transcript will be taken into consideration, scholastic achievement will not necessarily be the determining factor in the awarding of the scholarships. The Educational Awards Committee, in keeping with Kiwanis principals will take into consideration such additional factors as leadership, character, community activities, etc., as well as the financial need of the applicant. The decision of the committee will be final.

Application forms properly completed, together with a copy of a grade XII Department of Education High School Transcript and two letters of reference from the writers thereof must be emailed by the athletic director of the applying school to the RHSAA commissioner.

The funds will be forwarded to the successful applicant upon receipt of proof of registration in an approved post-secondary educational institution.
